Harper eats babies?
Well the the satire-free grace period for our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, is over... oh, wait there never really had been a grace period!
This latest poke was from a "hacker" who took over the digital signs on a commuter GO train today and programmed them to proclaim that: "Stephen Harper eats babies!"
Humourous? Yes. Digital vandelism? Most certainly. I had a hard time, in fact, figuring out which category of my blog to put this entry under. Is it mischief, mischief/politics or mischief/technology? I guess in the interest of kindness I'll settle on the first.
More humourously was that a Google search on "Harper eats babies" yieled the Wikipedia entry for Cannibalism in which someone enter this phrase as an example of cannibalism in popular culture.
Probably my favorite satire so far of Mr. Minority is that portrayed by The Royal Canadian Air Farce who present Harper as a near-androgenous robot with "frickin' lasers" coming out of his eyes!
Incidentally, GO Transit are turning off the signs for three days to update them so they are password protected. I imagine given the lack of difficulty our hacker had at taking over the signs in the first place it'd be rather easy for him or her to run a brute force attack and crack the password. Expect more digital hilarity.
